Israel’s Message to Tehran Before Striking Intended Targets

Israel sent a message to Tehran before attacking Iran, clarifying which targets it would strike.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel sent a message to Tehran through several intermediaries before attacking Iran, specifying which targets Israel would strike and which targets it would not strike.
On Friday, October 25, Israel sent a message to Iran before its retaliatory attack and warned them not to respond. The message was sent to limit mutual attacks between Israel and Iran and prevent further escalation of tensions by Israel.
Early Saturday morning, October 26, local time, three airstrikes were launched against Iran. The first strike targeted Iran’s air defense system, and the second and third strikes targeted missile bases, drone facilities, and weapons production sites. Iran announced that it had neutralized Israel’s attack and that only limited damage was inflicted on military targets.
Several informed sources regarding Israel’s retaliatory attack said: “Israel made it clear to Iran what they would target and what they would not target. Israel also warned Iran not to show any reaction and stressed that further retaliation by Iran would result in a larger Israeli response. Especially if Israeli civilians are harmed.”
Before the Israeli attack, Iran had announced that it was not seeking war with Israel, but if Israel attacked, Iran would retaliate. Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israeli military, also warned in response to this message that any response from Iran and escalation of tensions would force Israel to respond again.
A U.S. official also, while noting that he did not participate in the operation, stressed that if Iran intends to retaliate and escalate tensions, America will be ready to defend Israel. The official stated: “This should be the end of direct military attacks between Israel and Iran, and if Iran attacks Israel again, there will be consequences. We have communicated this to Iran directly and indirectly.”
Sean Savett, spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, added: “Our goal is to accelerate diplomacy and reduce tensions in the Middle East. We are asking Iran to stop its attacks on Israel so that this cycle of conflict ends without further escalation.”
