Ten-Year Prison Sentence and Two-Year Ban on Civil Activities Imposed Against Dr. Tomaj Ariankia

Dr. Tomaj Ariankia, a Christian citizen, has been sentenced to ten years in prison and two years of deprivation from civil activities.
Dr. Tomaj Arian, a Christian citizen, joined the “Pan-Iranist” party in 2001. He was arrested in Karaj on November 23, 2022, due to his Christian faith and was placed in solitary confinement at Karaj Prison. After spending 28 days in solitary confinement, he was transferred to the general ward of the prison.
He was ultimately released on a heavy bail of 4 billion and 800 million tomans pending trial. He also began his cooperation with the Christian Liberties Party of Iran (AMA) starting from 2020 and became a member of this party.
Dr. Ariankia was sentenced in September of the current year (2024) by Judge Mostafa Narimani to 10 years in prison and 2 years of deprivation from civil activities on charges of “Christian proselytization,” “contact with hostile states,” and “membership in illegal groups opposed to the system.” Following receipt of the sentence, he requested a retrial from the relevant court.
It is worth noting that for years, Christian citizens, after being detained by the Islamic Republic government, have faced not only baseless accusations without sufficient evidence, but also extremely heavy bail requirements for temporary release.
Since accurate information regarding his current situation is not available at the time of preparing this report, further updates regarding Dr. Tomaj Ariankia’s case will be provided subsequently.
