“Syed Abul-Hassan Nawab”: Israel Seeks to Sow Discord Between Shias and Sunnis

Syed Abul-Hassan Nawab stated in his speech: Israel is seeking to sow discord between Shias and Sunnis and all Muslims.

Syed Abul-Hassan Nawab, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Religions and Denominations, at a ceremony commemorating Ismail Haniyeh, Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, while offering condolences on his martyrdom, stated: “Israel is seeking to sow discord and spread hatred between Shias and Sunnis and all Muslims. Sectarian incitement, attempts to partition Islamic countries, support for terrorist groups, and attacks on Islamic countries are among the efforts of the Zionist regime in the Islamic world aimed at weakening Islamic nations.”

In his speech, while referring to Israel’s war in Gaza, he added: “The martyr Haniyeh lost many of his children in the recent Gaza war but never surrendered and achieved his aspiration, which was martyrdom. Israel killed our guest in our Islamic Iran, and we will take revenge for the martyrdom of our guest. For nearly a century, the issue of the occupation of Palestine by a cancerous tumor called the Zionist regime has been considered one of the important issues of the Islamic world. Muslim scholars have specifically supported the Palestinian issue and responded according to their responsibility to this matter. Shia scholars, like Ayatollah Golpayegani and Ayatollah Khoei, have also expressed concern about this issue since the very beginning of the occupation of Palestine and have sympathized with Palestinians.”

He also, in response to the dissemination of the Palestinian issue in cyberspace, added: “Some counter-revolutionary elements and other opposing groups to the Palestinian issue within the country are trying in cyberspace to downplay the important issue of Palestine and say why Palestine and why us? We should answer these people that the Palestinian issue stems from our being Muslim. We are Muslims and we are responsible for Muslims around the world because support for Palestine stems from our Islam.”
