Scientists Confirm 2,000-Year-Old Age of Shroud of Turin

Italian scientists in their recent studies have confirmed the 2,000-year-old age of the “Shroud of Turin.”

The “Shroud of Turin” is a piece of linen cloth on which the face of a man with a body covered in wounds, apparently crucified, is imprinted. The Shroud of Turin is currently preserved in the Church of “Saint John the Baptist” in the city of Turin, Italy.

Catholics believe that the Shroud of Turin is a credible artifact for proving the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and many also believe that this cloth is the burial shroud of Jesus Christ. In 1898, when this cloth was displayed in the Turin Church, a man named “Secondo Pia” who was an amateur photographer had permission to photograph it, and when he saw the image imprinted on the cloth through the negative, he dropped the photographic glass from his hand in shock.

The aforementioned shroud has sparked much debate among scientists, ordinary people, believers, writers, historians, and so on. In 1988, scientists using the scientific method of radiocarbon dating attributed this shroud to 1300 years after Christ, after which debates arose about the incorrectness of this test.

Furthermore, three universities in Zurich, Tucson, and Oxford announced after assessments that this shroud is 65 percent likely to belong to the years 1273 to 1288 and 95 percent likely to belong to the years 1353 to 1384 AD, which scientifically shows it does not belong to the time period of Jesus Christ’s life.

With scientific research conducted over many years and debates that have arisen about this shroud, Italian scientists have now conducted studies using modern scientific methods and new X-ray techniques on the Shroud of Turin, the results of which show that previous views about this shroud being 2,000 years old are valid and indicate that Jesus Christ lived in that era and provides precise and documented evidence that is in complete agreement with past beliefs about the origin of this shroud.

The Shroud of Turin is known as a sacred shroud, and many believe that this is the cloth that was wrapped around the body of Jesus Christ, while others believe that this shroud is merely an artistic and fraudulent work. This shroud continues to be protected under security measures in the Catholic Church in Turin located in northern Italy. According to scientists, this shroud is of special importance and can be used as scientific evidence to prove the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
