White House Cancels Meeting with Israel Over Iran

The White House cancelled a meeting between the United States and Israel that was scheduled for Thursday regarding Iran.

According to reports released, a high-level meeting between the United States and Israel was set to take place on Thursday, June 20, concerning Iran, but senior advisors to Joe Biden cancelled the meeting by sending a letter through “Amos Hochstein,” the U.S. representative, to Benjamin Netanyahu.

The reason for the cancellation of the said meeting was the release of a video by Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, in which he claimed that the United States is withholding military aid to Israel. Senior advisors to Joe Biden, President of the United States, were also extremely upset by the release of this video, and hours after its release, they sent a letter titled “Cancellation of the aforementioned meeting” to Netanyahu.

Benjamin Netanyahu had previously described the U.S. government’s decision to halt the shipment of weapons and ammunition to Israel over the past two months as illogical and expressed hope for the removal of obstacles. He also stated: “U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited Israel a week ago and we had a frank discussion in which I thanked Washington for its support of Israel following the outbreak of war in Gaza. I also said one other thing, which is that it is illogical for the U.S. government to have refrained from supplying weapons and ammunition to Israel over the past few months. Joe Biden also emphasized in this regard that he will continue to equip Israel with air defense systems and other weapons.”
