Sassan Chemenara Sentenced to Three Months Imprisonment and Fine

“Sassan Chemenara,” a civil activist, was sentenced by the first branch of the Ilam Revolutionary Court to three months of discretionary imprisonment and a monetary fine.

According to the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Prisoners, the sentencing of “Sassan Chemenara,” a resident of Ilam, by the first branch of the Ilam Revolutionary Court was announced in person to him on Saturday, March 10, to three months of discretionary imprisonment and a monetary fine.

Chemenara, 34 years old and a native of Ilam, was arrested by security forces on January 17 and transferred to the detention center of the Ilam Information Office. He was released on February 4 on bail from the security agency’s detention facility, and his interrogation session was held on February 19 regarding the charge of “propaganda against the system” at the fourth interrogation branch of the Ilam General and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.

He, who previously had a history of arrest and conviction, was sentenced on the charge of “propagandistic activity against the system in favor of opposing groups and hostile media” to three months of discretionary imprisonment with credit for previous detention time and payment of twenty million tomans in fines to the state treasury.
