Returning Gaza Workers Employed in Israel to Gaza Strip

Israel’s security cabinet announced the return of Gaza workers to the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s Security Council issued a statement stating: “Gaza workers who were in Israel on the day the war started will be returned to Gaza. We will sever all our relations with Gaza and there will no longer be any Palestinian workers from Gaza in Israel.”

According to statements from the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Israel had issued work permits for approximately 18,500 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, a figure estimated by Israeli media at 4,000 people. The aforementioned workers had received permits to enter and work in Israel before Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, as their income in Israel was higher compared to working in Gaza.

According to decisions made by Israel’s security cabinet, all budget allocations to the Gaza Strip will also be cut off. According to law, the aforementioned budget was paid to terrorists and their families through the Palestinian Authority’s budget, and the security cabinet’s statement issued orders to cease these payments.

It should be noted that the Palestinian Authority is based in the West Bank, which was established in 1993 as part of a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization.
