Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi Urges Lebanon’s Officials: Keep the Country Away from the Scourge of War

Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, Maronite Archbishop of Lebanon, addressed Lebanese officials and called on them to keep the country away from the scourge of this war.
The Maronite Church leader in Lebanon has reacted to the clashes between Israel and Hezbollah and called for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1385. UN Security Council Resolution 1385 was adopted on December 19, 2001. This resolution is an international document regarding the assessment of the situation in Sierra Leone.
According to published reports, the recent clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army are the most intense of their kind since the Second Lebanon War in the summer of 2006. Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, a fierce critic of the Hezbollah group, has called on Lebanese officials to keep Lebanon away from the scourge of war and instead use their political and diplomatic roles to defend Palestinians rather than engage in warfare.
The United States has also designated Hezbollah in Lebanon, which is affiliated with the Islamic Republic, as a terrorist group. Hezbollah holds considerable power in Lebanon, to the extent that Lebanese leaders are concerned about the expansion of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
It should be noted that Hamas militants, who are also supported by the Islamic Republic, attacked southern Israeli territories over the past two days, equivalent to October 7th, killing at least 1,400 people, most of them civilians, and taking over 240 people hostage.
Regarding the surprise Hamas attacks on Israel that began on October 7th, the United States, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Israel, and many other countries have added Hamas to their lists of terrorist organizations.
