Uncertainty and Continued Detention of ‘Poya Qobadi’ in Ward 209 of Evin Prison

“Poya Qobadi,” a political detainee, continues to be held without clarity on his status in Ward 209 of Evin Prison after 12 days.
Poya Qobadi is from the city of Saghez in Kermanshah Province and holds a degree in electrical engineering. He was arrested by security forces in Tehran in May 2018 and transferred to Rajaei Shahr Prison. He was sentenced to eighteen years in prison and exile to Nik city in Sistan and Baluchestan Province following two separate cases tried by Tehran’s Revolutionary Court. Mr. Qobadi was released from Rajaei Shahr Prison in spring 2023 following an amnesty decree. Poya Qobadi was arrested again on February 23, 2024, by security forces in Chaldoran city and transferred to Makoo Prison, and subsequently transferred on March 2, 2024, to the detention facility of the Ministry of Intelligence, known as Ward 209 of Evin Prison. After 12 days from the time of his arrest, he remains detained without clarity in the aforementioned ward of Evin Prison. It should be noted that since his transfer to Evin Prison, his family has had no information about his fate and condition, which has caused considerable concerns for his family. Additionally, to date, no information is available regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges against Poya Qobadi.
