28 Million People Living Below Poverty Line in the Country

Tehran’s representative in parliament reported statistics showing that 28 million people in the country are living below the poverty line.
Tehran’s parliamentary representative, during a speech, while referring to the reach of Iran’s below-poverty-line population to 28 million people, announced that the alarm bell for various social harms has sounded.
He also, while criticizing the seventh development plan in the field of social harms, stated that its predetermined objectives have no difference from the sixth development plan. According to Pirhaddi’s remarks regarding the growth of poverty in Iran, the government has no proper and organized plan for eliminating it.
While addressing journalists and referring to the alarm bell in the field of social harms, he said: the economic collapse of some sections of society over the past decade, the growth of marginalization, the increase in addiction statistics, corruption, increased migration to major cities, the feminization of social harms, and so on are among the warnings that if we are not serious about organizing and confronting them in the seventh development plan, we will soon face a serious crisis in the social health of society.
