Journalist Vida Rabani Deprived of Medical Care at Evin Prison

Journalist Vida Rabani, given her poor physical health condition, has been deprived of medical care at Evin Prison.
Vida Rabani, who is currently serving her sentence at Evin Prison, is in poor physical health, but due to the lack of consent from relevant prison authorities, she has been deprived of hospitalization and specialized medical treatment. She was transferred to a hospital on Saturday, the 13th of Khordad, due to the severity of her physical condition, but was returned to Evin Prison after completing her treatment course.
Vida Rabani was previously also deprived of medical care due to severe headaches, with prison authorities only providing sedative medications. Ms. Rabani responded to the statements of the Judiciary last week by publishing a letter, protesting the indiscriminate distribution of psychiatric and neurological drugs in the prison.
Vida Rabani was transferred to Taleghani Hospital after two months to undergo an MRI scan. Her husband, Hamidrezaa Amiri, expressed concern about her physical condition and said: “After examining the MRI test results, doctors have made various diagnoses regarding his wife’s illness. Their diagnosis is ‘headaches due to increased intracranial pressure,’ and there is a possibility of blood clots in the cerebral veins up to acute sinusitis. Any delay in performing necessary examinations and tests could endanger her life and cause permanent blindness.”
Ali Mojtahedzadeh, a lawyer, also stated in this regard: “Based on reliable information about Ms. Vida Rabani’s condition and the aggravation of her illness, there is serious concern about her health. We hope that the respected officials of the Judiciary will take action by granting her the legal right to leave, in order to address the family’s concerns.”
