Judiciary’s Proposed Bill on Chastity and Hijab

The government spokesperson announced the Judiciary’s bill on chastity and hijab to the government with a double urgency clause.
Ali Bahadori Jahromi, the government spokesperson, said this morning on Wednesday, April 16th, during a press conference at the cabinet meeting: “Today at the cabinet meeting, the Judiciary’s proposed bill regarding chastity and hijab was reviewed and approved, and has been sent to parliament.”
This bill was prepared and drafted in mid-April with 9 articles in the Legal Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Department of the Judiciary, in line with officials’ pressure to deal with women regarding mandatory hijab observance. It was sent to the government after being approved by the head of the Judiciary.
Ali Jahromi further added in his remarks: “This bill will be submitted to parliament with a double urgency clause so that it will also be processed with speed there. Expert opinions have been presented in the government’s specialized commission regarding this bill, which will be submitted as an attachment to the Islamic Consultative Assembly parliament.”
