Unrest Was a Pretext for Immorality

“Gholamreza Gilchalani” stated regarding the removal of the hijab that the unrest was a pretext for immorality.

“Gholamreza Gilchalani,” the governor of Massal, said in the chastity and hijab working group: “Unfortunately, these days across the country, in Gilan Province and Massal city, we are witnessing norm-breaking that is happening with special planning.

In the law of the Islamic Republic system, the hijab is a law and removing the hijab is considered illegal. On this basis, providing services to those without hijab in Massal is prohibited. The unrest was a pretext for immorality. Now that the weather is cold, we are witnessing hijab removal, and if no measures are taken, the situation will become even more deplorable in the summer season.”

He also announced that bakeries, hotels, pharmacies, offices, shops, and restaurants are not permitted to provide services to individuals who have removed their hijab. This is while women and girls have been standing in protest against mandatory hijab, which led to the death of Mahsa Amini, for seven months now.

Gholamreza Gilchalani called the popular uprising immoral at a time when many young people, both girls and boys, have lost their lives for the sake of seeking justice, freedom of expression and thought, not for the hijab. The revolution and people’s protest began due to Mahsa Amini’s death, specifically because of the hijab, but the Islamic Republic regime attributed it to the people’s desire to promote hijab removal and branded it with the stigma of immorality.

The people of Iran, not only women but also men, have reacted to the message of the Massal governor and many Friday prayer leaders who called hijab removal immoral, and declared that there are bigger problems than the hijab in Iran that we, the people, will address, one of which is the overthrow of the Islamic Republic regime, and it will soon be accomplished by us, the people.
