Taliban Foreign Minister Metqui Makes Veiled Attack on Iran

Amir Khan Metqui, Taliban Foreign Minister, attacked the Iranian government regarding the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
Amir Khan Metqui, Taliban Foreign Minister, during his speech at a gathering of religious scholars in Kabul, made a veiled address to countries supporting the formation of an inclusive government, stating: “We do not have as many prisoners in our jails as the people you execute. Do you have an inclusive government?”
He also noted that the formation of the Taliban system is a domestic matter and no country has the right to interfere in these affairs, adding: “Thousands of people have disappeared in your country, but no one dares to ask about it. Do you have an inclusive government yourself? Have you given citizens their rights in your own government?”
Although Amir Khan Metqui did not reference any specific country, his remarks appear to be directed at Iran, as Iran is among countries where many opposition figures have disappeared or been executed by the government. Nevertheless, the Islamic Republic system has repeatedly called on the Taliban to form an inclusive government.
