Moghan Kavoozi, Civil Activist and Women’s Rights Advocate, in Danger of Execution

Moghan Kavoozi’s lawyer announced the risk of an execution sentence being issued against her.

Moghan Kavoozi, born in 1983, is a civil activist, women’s rights advocate, and political prisoner who was detained in 2019 by security forces for protesting mandatory hijab laws. She was subsequently sentenced to 23 years in prison by the court, after which the sentence was reduced to 12 years and 7 months.

Moghan Kavoozi was conditionally released in February 2022 due to illness. However, Mohammad Moghimi, Moghan Kavoozi’s lawyer, has now published a statement on his Twitter account announcing that a new case has been opened against Moghan, who was previously convicted of imprisonment. In this case, she has been accused of corruption on earth (Fasad Fi Al-Arz), and she now faces the issuance of an execution sentence.

He has also called on the Iranian people to be the voice of Moghan Kavoozi. The Islamic Republic government, regardless of lawyers’ support, takes the lives of innocent people and has accelerated executions.

Only the unity and solidarity of the people can bring down this criminal regime.
