Ali Daei Reacts to Voria Ghafouri’s Arrest

Ali Daei expressed his support for Voria Ghafouri in reaction to his arrest.

Voria Ghafouri, a Foolad player and former member of Iran’s national football team, was arrested on the night Iran and Wales played against each other, which sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Ali Daei, who has previously reacted to the suppression of people by security forces and the killing of protesters, also responded to Voria Ghafouri’s arrest and, in support of him, posted a message addressed to the Islamic Republic government on his personal social media account.

In this message, Ali Daei said: “Silencing a critic is merely and simply concealing the face of the problem. Regardless of colors, I support any individual who is the voice of their people. Just as I have tried throughout all these years to be a supporter and the voice of the people of my homeland.”
