Commemoration of Zhina (Masha) Amini’s Memory by Nowruz Travelers

Nowruz travelers gathered at the grave of Zhina (Masha) Amini to commemorate her memory.

Zhina (Masha) Amini is a familiar name to the Iranian people. Zhina became a symbol of victory for Iran, and not only Iranians but people around the world chanted her name.

The killing of Zhina Amini by the security forces of the Islamic Republic regime sparked the flames of a popular revolutionary uprising from Shahrivar 1401 that resulted in the loss of many lives and bereaved countless families.

Nowruz 1402 was very different from previous years because most people across Iran were visiting the graves of their loved ones who had lost their lives in nationwide protests. The new year was very different for Zhina’s family as well, but the presence of many people from across Iran brought special consolation to the Amini family, and that was keeping Zhina’s memory alive.

Nowruz travelers from across Iran gathered at her grave with abundant flowers to commemorate the eternal memory of Zhina, adorning her grave with flowers. Through this act, they showed that the Amini family is not alone and that the people of all of Iran share in the grief of losing Zhina, and that her memory still lives in hearts.

The sharing of a video of this commemoration ceremony on social media pages kindled a sorrow mixed with hope in the hearts of the Iranian people, and many users declared: “Dear Zhina, you are the symbol of freedom for the Iranian nation. Every time we think that you came to Tehran and were merely a guest in Tehran, but how tragically you were killed by the tyrant of the time, our hearts ache. Be assured we will avenge you. Beautiful and noble daughter of Iran, be patient a little longer. Visiting your grave for us Iranians is sacred, and we must kiss the dust of your feet, for you were the igniter of the flames of this revolution.”

Many people also declared that you have become a legend. After the fall of the Islamic Republic regime and Khamenei’s death, even his followers and their friends will not recite a prayer for him, let alone adorn his grave with flowers and commemorate his memory.
