Statement by Lawyers and Filmmakers Regarding Student Poisonings

A number of lawyers and filmmakers have protested against the poisoning of students and issued a statement in this regard.
More than 5 months after the student poisonings, not only have these attacks not stopped, but the perpetrators and causes of these poisonings have not been identified by the government.
The poisoning of students from elementary to high school has drawn significant reactions both domestically and internationally. In this regard, several lawyers and filmmakers in Iran, through the publication of a statement concerning these poisonings, have called for the identification of those responsible.
According to “Hrana,” part of the statement reads as follows: “The deliberate poisonings in Iranian schools, which began in December 2022 in Qom, have poisoned over 13,000 people by the end of the year. It appears this act is a form of threat and retaliation against young girls and adolescents who, in the transformative ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ movement, have dedicated their efforts to ending forced hijab and demanding women’s rights. While every protest action and movement cannot escape the scrutiny of authoritarian forces, the indifference to uncovering the perpetrators of these crimes reveals the hidden agenda of clandestine gangs in the dark chambers of mafia-like power.”
It should be noted that the signatories of this statement are Giti Poorfazel, Jafar Panahi, Ramadan Haji Mashhadi, Saeed Dehghan, Katayoun Riahi, Hossein Raisi, Farzaneh Zilabi, Nasrin Sotoudeh, Mehrangiz Kar, and Mohammad Moghimi.
