Funeral of Ayla Haqqi Held in Tabriz

Today, Friday, November 27, the funeral procession of 23-year-old Ayla Haqqi was held with the widespread presence of people in the city of Tabriz.
Ayla Haqqi, born in 1378 and a 23-year-old medical student at Tabriz Islamic Azad University, was killed on the evening of November 25. According to reports from people at the scene, Ms. Haqqi, who had taken shelter in a building during Wednesday’s protests, was thrown down by security forces and died due to rebar piercing her body.
However, Ibrahim Mohammadi, the head of the intelligence police in Tabriz Province, falsely claimed that Ayla Haqqi’s death was caused by falling into an excavation pit near the Shohran Tower in Tabriz. The point here is that falling into a pit filled with soft soil would not cause death suddenly, but rather would result in broken arms or legs and injury to parts of the body. The Islamic Republic has not only for Ayla but for other killed protesters as well claimed reasons such as “traffic accidents,” “suicide,” “falls from heights,” “shooting and terrorist attacks from within the crowd.”
In the past, they also announced the cause of Nika Karami’s death by releasing a false video showing a fall from height, which allegedly indicated Nika’s suicide.
The agents of the Islamic Republic not only disgust the people more through their own lies but also threaten the families of killed protesters, demanding that they falsely report the cause of their children’s or spouses’ deaths as accidents.
