Death Toll from Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria Exceeds 35,000

According to the latest statistics, the death toll from the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria since last week has exceeded 35,000 people.

The earthquake that occurred last Monday, February 6, corresponding to Shawbat 6 in Turkey and Syria, resulted in the death toll surpassing 35,000 people after one week and following numerous aftershocks.

This earthquake activated numerous faults in other Turkish cities as well. According to geologists’ predictions for today, Shawbat 13 (February) and Shawbat 14 (February), people must remain alert as another earthquake is on the way.

Professor “Naci Gorur,” a geologist and member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, announced on a television network: “More than 10 other regions in Turkey, including Erzincan, Bingol, Karli-Ova, and the North Anatolian Fault, are at risk of earthquakes above 6 on the Richter scale.” According to his statements, given the seismic stress from recent earthquakes on the faults in the Maras region, the Adana basin, and the Iskenderun area should be given attention. In addition, warnings have been issued for areas south of the Sea of Marmara, Canakkale, Bursa, the Izmir Peninsula and its surroundings, and the coasts of Antalya and Mugla.

Turkish geologist Professor “Celal Sengur” also announced the most and least resistant areas of Istanbul in a television program. The south of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge on the Anatolian side, Anadolu Fortress, Atasehir, and north of Pendik are among Istanbul’s resistant areas, while Kucukcekmece and Beykoz are vulnerable areas.

Given the activation of numerous faults, the possibility of predicted earthquakes occurring is very high. Therefore, warnings have been issued in all Turkish cities, including those that have experienced aftershocks.

It is worth noting that Turkey has announced the closure of many centers, including schools, for another week until February 20 (Shawbat 20), and this closure is due to the prediction of upcoming earthquakes.

The depth of the disaster of this earthquake is clearly evident in the video below.
