Attack on Hossein Ronaghi’s Family and His Latest Condition

An informed source told the Persian service of Voice of America that security forces raided the Ronaghi family home on the 23rd of Aban to arrest Hassan Ronaghi, Hossein Ronaghi’s brother, but he managed to escape from them.

Syed Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, born in 1985, is an Iranian human rights activist, civil rights campaigner, blogger, journalist, and political prisoner. He has been an active presence on social media and has a history of detention and five years of imprisonment in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ronaghi was arrested on the 2nd of Mehr during Iran’s nationwide protests in 1401 and transferred to Evin Prison. Hossein Ronaghi was tortured in Evin Prison and then began a hunger strike, which worsened his condition. After his condition deteriorated in prison and he coughed up blood, Hossein Ronaghi was transferred to Dey Hospital on the 22nd of Aban. A group of people gathered in front of the hospital in response to his situation, and Ali Daei was also among the people who had gathered in front of Dey Hospital; however, security forces opened fire and fired tear gas to disperse them.

In the meantime, Hassan Ronaghi, Hossein Ronaghi’s brother, wrote on his Twitter account describing his brother’s condition: The Islamic Republic intends to take his brother Hossein’s life, and this led to security forces forcefully entering the Ronaghi family home yesterday to arrest Hassan Ronaghi, but Hassan Ronaghi managed to escape.

Hossein Ronaghi, after receiving the necessary medical services and visiting his mother in the hospital, was transferred back to Evin Prison.

The Iranian people not only demanded freedom for Hossein Ronaghi but also called for the release of all political prisoners who have been held in Evin Prison under deplorable conditions for a long time.
