Telecommunications Retirees Hold Demonstrations in at Least 16 Iranian Cities

Telecommunications retirees gathered on Tuesday, July 12 in at least 16 cities across Iran to protest their living conditions.

These demonstrations took place in Tehran, Khorramabad, Qazvin, Kermanshah, Kerman, Rasht, Shahrekord, Yazd, Arak, Ahvaz, Tabriz, Urmia, Jowanrud, Bandar Abbas, Hamedan, and Shiraz.

The demonstrators protested issues including healthcare costs and delays in non-cash benefit payments.

These retirees had previously protested the Telecommunications Company’s lack of accountability in various provinces but received no response from the company.

In recent years, retirees from various sectors, such as Social Security and the National Fund, have held demonstrations to protest their living conditions.
