According to HRANA news agency, citing Kurdpa, on Saturday, July 2, 2022, a porter was wounded by direct fire from military forces in the border areas of Bane.

The porter has been identified as Kamal Ebrahimzadeh, a married man with two children from the village of Divalan in Sardasht.

Portering is a deceptive and arduous occupation that people in border areas resort to due to the lack of job opportunities, and dozens are killed or wounded annually either by natural hazards or by shots fired by border guards.

In a section of the annual report on human rights conditions in Iran for 2021, it addressed citizens who have been killed or wounded by military entities.

Beyond material damages, the killing of pack animals and incidents including frostbite and avalanches, the report documented the killing of 23 porters (border carriers) and the wounding of 81 others by border and security forces.

It should be noted that 28 other porters were also injured due to climatic and geographical conditions such as frostbite and falling from heights, of which 16 porters were wounded and 12 porters lost their lives.
