Branch 26 of Tehran Revolutionary Court Sentences Mahan Sadarat to Death

Judge Afshari sentenced Mahan Sadarat to death on charges of moharebeh (armed rebellion). Mahan Sadarat, one of those arrested during the recent protests of 12 Aban 1401, was tried by judge “Iman Afshari.”

A informed source in the judiciary told “IranWire” that Mahan Sadarat’s death sentence was written by Judge Afshari and will be communicated to his lawyer in the coming days.

He was tried in court on charges of moharebeh through wielding cold weapons, assembly and conspiracy with intent to commit crimes against national security. Mahan Sadarat was also accused by complainants of charges including “setting a motorcycle on fire, destroying a private complainant’s phone, and intentionally causing injury with a knife.”

During the court session, Mahan Sadarat, as the defendant, stated that our plan was not to engage with these people and we only intended to gather in a place to peacefully chant slogans; however, Judge Afshari accused him of “disrupting public order.”

Judge Afshari asked Mahan Sadarat: What factor led you to attack these two people who are neither military personnel nor police officers, but merely ordinary people with freelance jobs and also working in private companies?

Now we examine the identity of these two private complainants who, in Judge Afshari’s view, are ordinary people.

Mahan Sadarat has two private complainants. Judge Afshari says they are ordinary people with freelance jobs. Mahan Sadarat’s complainants are Mohammad Reza Ghanbartalaab, one of the main perpetrators of the attack on the Saudi embassy, which led to his appointment as an adviser to several parliamentary factions and institutions. Mohammad Reza Ghanbartalaab, by order of Ali Reza Ahmadi, chairman of the Supreme Council of Provinces, also became an adviser to the chair and member of the council’s strategic cultural-social steering board. Now this oppressive gentleman is playing the role of a simple complainant.

The second complainant, who in Judge Afshari’s view is an ordinary citizen, is named Mojtaba Takhtipour. In fact, he is Hojjat-al-Islam Takhtipour, director of the FAHMA office. This oppressive cleric removed his clerical robe and turban in court and is playing the role of a simple complainant.

A weakened system that has no pieces left but a few fake complainant actors will sign its own destruction decree by executing revolutionaries.

Let us prevent further crimes of the Islamic Republic government by using #NoToExecution.
