Iran’s State News Agency IRNA Denies Assassination of Quds Force Commander

IRNA, citing an unnamed informed source, announced that claims by some media outlets regarding the assassination of Colonel Ali Ismail Zadeh, one of the commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, in Karaj are completely false, and that the Revolutionary Guard lost his life in an accident at his residential home, the cause of which is still under investigation.

This comes as news sources in Iran say Colonel Ali Ismail Zadeh was killed as a result of falling from the balcony of his house. The Amarion channel, affiliated with the IRGC, had earlier reported the assassination of a Quds Force member, but hours later, after deleting the report, declared the cause of Colonel Ismail Zadeh’s death as suicide.

The Saberin News account on Twitter, belonging to the Quds Force, wrote: “The cause of Ismail Zadeh’s death has not yet been determined.”

Last week, Colonel Hassan Sayyad Khodai, a senior commander of the Quds Force, was shot and killed in front of his house in Tehran. Days later, Israeli officials informed the United States that Mossad operatives eliminated Sayyad Khodai due to his role in extrajudicial assassinations and the threat he posed to Israeli forces.

Following Israel’s position, the Islamic Republic’s officials once again promised a harsh response.
