At Least 3 Protest Gatherings Held / Strike by Workers and Employees of Zarneh Municipality

On Monday, July 4, 2022, a group of retirees from the Social Security Organization in Doroud and Shushtar in these cities and a number of minibus operators in Bandar Abbas gathered in front of the Hormozgan Province Governor’s Building to protest the failure to address their demands. On the other hand, workers and employees of Zarneh Municipality, a suburb of Iwan County in Ilam Province, have been on strike since Sunday, July 3, 2022, in protest of non-payment of their outstanding claims.

According to Hrana news agency, citing the Iran Free Workers Union, on Monday, July 4, 2022, a number of Social Security retirees in the city of Doroud in Lorestan Province and Shushtar in Khuzestan Province held a gathering.

The protesting retirees chanted slogans such as “Our enemy is right here, they lie and say it’s America” and “Our salaries are in rials, our expenses are in dollars.”

These citizens gathered to protest the non-implementation of the wage resolution by the Supreme Labor Council and their poor living conditions.

Bandar Abbas Minibus Operators Gathering

According to the Iran Free Workers Union, on Monday, July 4, 2022, a group of minibus operators in Bandar Abbas gathered in front of the Hormozgan Province Governor’s Building to protest the failure to address their demands.

This gathering was held in protest of fuel quota shortage and congestion and lack of fuel stations.

Strike by Workers and Employees of Zarneh Municipality

According to the Iran Free Workers Union, workers and employees of Zarneh Municipality, a suburb of Iwan County in Ilam Province, have been on strike since Sunday, July 3, 2022, in protest of non-payment of their outstanding claims.

Zarneh Municipality workers and employees have 7 months of unpaid salaries, 53 months of overdue insurance, years-old pension fund arrears, and outstanding overtime, mission, and holiday allowance claims dating from 2015 to the present.

After years of following up on their claims, these workers have conducted multiple protests since April of this year and corresponded with provincial officials, but have received no response. In protest of the failure to address their problems, they began a sit-in from yesterday.
