Abandoned Newborn Found in Zahedan

Hrana News Agency – The police commander of Zahedan in Sistan and Baluchestan province reported the discovery of a newborn infant in one of the city’s streets.

According to Hrana news agency citing IRNA, an abandoned newborn was found in one of Zahedan’s urban streets.

The police commander of Zahedan explained the incident, stating: Following a call from one of Zahedan Municipality’s street cleaners to the police emergency center 110 reporting the discovery of a newborn, police officers were immediately dispatched to the location near a trash bin on one of the city’s streets.

Mahmoud Saadati stated: “Upon the arrival of officers at the scene and following investigations, it became clear that a street sweeper who was collecting municipal waste heard sounds coming from inside a discarded shoe box placed next to a trash bin. Upon opening the box, they found a newborn wrapped in red cloth.”

The police commander of Zahedan, referring to the child’s physical health, emphasized: “The abandoned child was handed over to the provincial welfare office for further action and identification of the parents.”
