Mansoureh Erfanian, teachers’ trade union activist in Mashhad, released

On Thursday, the 15th of Ordibehesht, Mansoureh Erfanian, a teachers’ trade union activist in Mashhad, was released. She had been detained by security forces on Sunday, the 11th of Ordibehesht, during a nationwide gathering of teachers in Mashhad.
According to the Hrana news agency, citing the Coordination Council of Iran’s Educators’ Trade Union Organizations, on Thursday, the 15th of Ordibehesht 1401, Mansoureh Erfanian, a teachers’ trade union activist in Mashhad, was released.
Ms. Erfanian had been detained by security forces on Sunday, the 11th of Ordibehesht 1401, during a nationwide gathering of teachers in Mashhad.
On Sunday, the 11th of Ordibehesht, coinciding with International Workers’ Day and on the eve of Teachers’ Week in Iran, teachers and educators, both employed and retired, held gatherings in front of education department offices in many cities across the country in protest against the failure to address their demands. In this regard, the teachers’ gatherings in some cities were accompanied by the use of violence by police forces and the detention of a number of protesters.
