Imminent Execution Threat for Ahmadreza Jalali by End of Ordibehesht Month

The ISNA news agency, citing informed sources, reported the execution of Ahmadreza Jalali, a dual-national prisoner sentenced to death in Evin Prison, by the end of Ordibehesht month this year.
According to Hrana news agency, ISNA reported citing informed sources that the execution sentence of Ahmadreza Jalali, a dual-national prisoner, will be carried out by the end of Ordibehesht month this year.
Based on this report from informed sources, Jalali’s death sentence has been placed on the agenda for implementation after confirmation by the Supreme Court of the country.
Ahmadreza Jalali, a university professor who traveled to Iran in Ordibehesht 1395 at the invitation of Tehran University, was arrested by security forces on charges of “waging war through espionage for Israel.” The Tehran prosecutor accused Ahmadreza Jalali of “transferring information related to completely secret state projects in research, military, defense, and nuclear fields in exchange for receiving funds along with Swedish citizenship for himself and his family.”
Mr. Jalali was ultimately convicted of espionage and sentenced to death, and this verdict was confirmed by the Supreme Court in Azar month of 1396.
Hrana reported on the 4th of Azar month 1399 that Ahmadreza Jalali was transferred to the execution unit of Evin Courthouse and finally to solitary confinement in quarantine section 209 of Evin Prison. In the transfer form, it was written that Mr. Jalali would be held in quarantine for one week to complete the execution procedures. Helale Mousavian, his defense lawyer, stated in an interview in Dey month 1399 that, referring to the suspension of her client’s execution order, Mr. Jalali was being held in quarantine section 209 of Evin Prison and was deprived of visitation rights and telephone contact. He was finally transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison in Farvardin month 1400.
After completing his medical studies in Iran, Ahmadreza Jalali worked at the Center for Natural Disasters. He migrated to Sweden in 2009 (1388) to continue his studies and earned a doctorate degree in this field. He completed his postdoctoral studies in crisis medicine at Piemonte University in Italy, and afterwards lived in Sweden with his wife and two children.
