Khomeinishahr Representative in Parliament: Farmers Have No Water for Cultivation

The representative of Khomeinishahr in the Islamic Consultative Assembly says that approximately 90 percent of the reservoirs of dams in Isfahan province are empty and Isfahan farmers have no water for cultivation.

The remarks of Mohammad Taghi Naghadali were made one day after a gathering of farmers in front of the Isfahan Ministry of Agriculture.

According to ILNA news agency, referring to the fact that the water situation in Isfahan is not good, he added: The government has taken measures considering the farmers’ protests and drinking water sector problems, but Isfahan will face water shortage this year.

Isfahani farmers in recent years have repeatedly protested the cutting of their water rights and poor cultivation conditions through demonstrations and marches.

The largest protest by farmers took place in December of last year when they staged a peaceful sit-in for several days in the dry bed of the Zayandeh River, but security forces and plainclothes officers ended their protest by attacking the farmers.
