Release of Amin and Arman Ansari Far on Bail from Behbahan Prison

Hrana News Agency – Amin and Arman Ansari Far, the father and brother of Farzad Ansari Far who was killed during the November 2019 protests, were temporarily released from Behbahan Prison on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, after posting bail until the completion of legal proceedings. Amin Ansari Far and his son Arman Ansari Far were arrested on February 19 and March 1, 2022, and were subsequently transferred to Behbahan Prison.

According to Hrana News Agency, the news organ of the Human Rights Activists Network in Iran, Amin and Arman Ansari Far, the father and brother of Farzad Ansari Far who died during the November 2019 protests, were released from Behbahan Prison on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

The release of these citizens was granted through posting bail of 1.5 billion tomans temporarily and until the completion of legal proceedings.

On Monday, March 14, 2022, a court hearing regarding their charges was held in Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Bandar Mahshahr, presided over by Judge Seyedmehran Mehmannavaz, on charges of propaganda against the system via video conference and with the presence of Farshte Tabanyan, their defense lawyer. On the following day, the court agreed to release these citizens upon posting bail.

On February 19, Amin Ansari Far was arrested following his referral to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Behbahan and was transferred to the prison of this city. Similarly, Arman Ansari Far was arrested on Sunday, March 1, by officers of the Intelligence Office at his home and was first transferred to the detention facility of this security agency and finally to Behbahan Prison. According to an informed source, Arman Ansari Far was charged with “propaganda against the system,” and these citizens had been deprived of the right to visit with their family. Previously, their indictment was referred by Branch 4 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Behbahan City, headed by Judge Kazem Tayeb, to the Revolutionary Court of Bandar Mahshahr.

Amin Ansari Far was previously summoned by notice to Branch 4 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Behbahan City, headed by Judge Kazem Tayeb, to defend himself against the attributed charges. The charge against him was stated as “propaganda in favor of groups or organizations opposed to the Islamic Republic system.”

Moreover, Arman Ansari Far was summoned by notice on December 14 of this year to Branch 4 of the Prosecutor’s Office of Behbahan.

During the November 2019 protests in Behbahan, a number of citizens living in the city, including Mehrdad Dashtinia, Mahmoud Dashtinia, Farzad Ansari Far, Mohammad Hossein Ghonwati, Ehsan Abdollahnejad, and Mohammad Hashem Dar, lost their lives when shot by security forces. Hrana also reported on November 1 of last year the issuance of sentences totaling 109 years imprisonment and 2,590 lashes for 36 detainees from the November 2019 protests in Behbahan by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court of Behbahan.
