Narges Mohammadi Transferred from Prison to Hospital Due to ‘Respiratory Problems’

Tagi Rahmani, the husband of Narges Mohammadi, announced on Thursday, February 17, that this political prisoner has been transferred to a hospital due to “respiratory problems.”
Mr. Rahmani wrote in a tweet that they “do not have accurate information” about Narges Mohammadi’s condition, and “officials have accurate information about Narges’s physical condition.”
Ms. Mohammadi was arrested on November 16 during a raid by security forces on a mourning ceremony at the grave of Ibrahim Ketabdar, commemorating those killed in November 2019. After 64 days of solitary confinement in the security ward 209 of Evin Prison, she was transferred to Qarchak Prison in Varamin in late December.
This political prisoner recently protested the conditions at Qarchak Prison by releasing a letter. Tagi Rahmani states that Ms. Mohammadi’s transfer to this prison is “retaliatory.”
Based on a ruling issued by Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, which was delivered to her on January 15, Narges Mohammadi has been sentenced to eight years and two months in prison, 74 lashes, two years of exile from Tehran (prohibition from residence in Tehran), two years of ban from political and social activities in institutions and parties, two years of prohibition from presence and activity on social networks, telecommunications (interviews), and telephone recording.
In a letter she wrote from Qarchak Prison, she stated that she does not recognize the court ruling as valid. The European Union has also condemned the issuance of this ruling and called for her immediate release.
