At Least Five Citizens Arrested in Piranshahr Over Past 48 Hours

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights announced on Sunday, February 10, that three more citizens have been arrested in Piranshahr by Islamic Republic security forces, warning of the possibility of increased arrests in this Kurdish-populated region of Iran.
According to the organization’s report, two citizens named Faryad Khatib (Shilan), a native of Piranshahr, and Ali Amirpour, from the village of “Chianeh” under Naqadeh city, were arrested on Sunday morning following a raid by Piranshahr Intelligence Office forces on their home.
An informed source reported that security forces arrested these two citizens “without presenting a court warrant” and with “beating and assault.”
Another citizen named Morad Mamehrosh was also arrested on the same day after being summoned to the Piranshahr Intelligence Office.
According to Hengaw’s report, there is still no information available regarding the reasons for the arrest, charges against, or the location where these three citizens are being held.
Today’s arrests come as yesterday, Ayoub Hadisi and Rahman Khodmatgozar, two environmental activists from Piranshahr, were arrested by Piranshahr Intelligence Office forces.
