Bisotun Petrochemical Workers Protest Over Unpaid Wages

Contract workers at Bisotun Petrochemical Complex in Kermanshah Province have launched protests and hunger strikes in response to low wages, unfair working conditions, and non-payment of productivity bonuses.
Iran Labor News Agency, ILNA, reported on Sunday, November 20, that these workers, who are employed in the maintenance section, began gathering at the complex premises the previous day and continued their protests on Sunday.
Economic recession, bankruptcy of production units, and mismanagement have resulted in many workers being deprived of receiving their salaries and benefits. In recent months, the number of worker protests has increased significantly.
Some reports indicate that approximately six thousand worker gatherings have taken place over the past year, mostly in protest of non-payment of salaries for several months, mass layoffs, uncertainty following the privatization of factories, and low wages.
