Mother and Son Killed by Unknown Armed Individuals in Zahedan

The head of the intelligence police of Sistan and Baluchestan reported the killing of a mother and son by armed occupants of a Peugeot 405 vehicle on Janbazān Street in the city of Zahedan.
Ibrahim Mollashahi stated that the killing occurred shortly after 12 noon on Wednesday, the sixth of Bahman.
In addition to these two deaths, a 46-year-old man and his 74-year-old mother, as well as the nephew of the deceased man who is a 30-year-old male, were also wounded in the shooting and transferred to the hospital.
This 74-year-old mother was still alive when her son was killed and died from the severity of her injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
According to Mr. Mollashahi, the vehicle from which the shooting occurred had three occupants who “had covered their heads and faces and fired at this family with Kalashnikovs”.
No reports have yet been published regarding the possible arrest of these three individuals or the motive for the killing.
Zahedan is the capital of the deprived province of Sistan and Baluchestan, and typically in this region, armed clashes occur between Iran’s security and police forces and drug traffickers or groups that the Islamic Republic refers to as “evildoers”.
