Iran’s Health Ministry: Seven Million People in the Country Have Not Yet Received Coronavirus Vaccine

The head of communicable disease immunization at Iran’s Health Ministry says that seven million people in the country’s population have still not received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Mohsen Zahraei told Islamic Republic Television: “We continue to recommend families to get vaccinated, as scientific studies show that vaccination can prevent 50 to 80 percent of others from contracting coronavirus disease.”

Meanwhile, the acting head of the public relations and information center of the Health Ministry announced an increase in the number of confirmed patients infected with the Omicron variant in the country.

Based on a personal tweet by Mohammad Hashemi, the number of confirmed patients infected with Omicron has now reached 733 people.

Hormozgan, Tehran, Khorasan Razavi, Mazandaran, Isfahan, and Central provinces are leading in the number of people infected with this variant.
