Floods in Fars Province Leave Several Dead and Injured

Floods and flooding resulting from heavy rainfall in parts of Fars Province have left several people dead and blocked roads. According to reports, the occurrence of floods has also caused disruptions to flights.

According to Mehr News Agency, most cities in Fars Province, particularly southern cities, have been affected by flooding and inundation.

According to the agency’s report released in the early hours of Monday morning, so far two people have been killed in the floods and four others have been injured.

Iran’s Emergency Organization stated that a 50-year-old woman in the city of Darab died after falling into a water channel that had filled due to heavy rainfall.

Mahdi Khobiar, deputy director of relief and rescue at the Red Crescent Society of Fars Province, also stated that an occupant of a vehicle that was caught in floods following the overflow of the seasonal Lamerd River died.

He said a total of nine people in three vehicles had been trapped, and rescue forces were able to save eight of them. Mahdi Khobiar stated that a rescue request was issued during the night.

Also, a Dubai flight to Larestan was forced to change course and went to Shiraz instead.

The head of the crisis committee at Parsian Gas Refinery also stated that with the flow of floods and the blocking of access roads to the main Lamerd-Mehr highway, a passenger vehicle had an accident in which four workers from the refinery were injured.

Earlier, Iranian media had reported flooding in the city of Ahvaz due to heavy rainfall.

On the 10th of Dey, Iranian media reported that the Meteorological Organization had issued flood warnings for 14 provinces including Bushehr, Fars, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Yazd, and Kerman.
