Execution of Two Prisoners Carried Out in Zanjan and Dastgerd Isfahan Prisons

Hrana News Agency – On the morning of Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the execution sentence of a prisoner who was previously sentenced to death on drug-related charges was carried out in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. On the other hand, on the morning of Monday, February 28, 2022, a prisoner accused of murder was executed in Zanjan Prison after his flogging sentence was carried out.
According to Hrana News Agency citing the Iran Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Wednesday, March 2, 2022, a prisoner was executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
The identity of this prisoner, who was arrested four years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death, has been identified as Akbar Shahsavand, 36 years old.
On the other hand, on the morning of Monday, February 28, 2022, the execution sentence of another prisoner who was previously sentenced to death on a murder charge was carried out in Zanjan Prison.
The identity of this prisoner has been identified as Morad Saleh Beig, approximately 45 years old, from Marand and father of two children.
Before the execution of this prisoner, who was arrested about five years ago on this charge and has been serving time in prison, 74 lashes were also carried out.
The execution of these prisoners has not been announced by domestic media or official sources in Iran up to the time of this report’s preparation.
According to the annual report of the Statistics Center, Publishing and Works of the Collective Activists of Human Rights in Iran during the period (January 1, 2021 to December 20, 2021), at least 299 citizens were executed and 85 others were sentenced to death. Among those executed, it should be noted that 4 child offenders were executed.
According to the same report, more than 88 percent of executions carried out in Iran are not announced by the government or judicial authorities, which human rights organizations technically call “secret” executions.
