Kaveh Mousavi: Hamid Nouri Will Remain in Prison for Life

The trial of Hamid Nouri in Stockholm, Sweden continued on Wednesday, Esfand 4th, with Kaveh Mousavi and Rebecca Moni, a British lawyer whose office filed the first complaint against Hamid Nouri, testifying in court.

Before appearing in court, Kaveh Mousavi told Radio Farda in an interview that Britain’s counter-terrorism police did not allow him to leave England, and he is testifying in Hamid Nouri’s trial via Skype.

Mousavi said he has no doubt that Hamid Nouri will be convicted and will essentially spend the rest of his life in prison.

Hamid Nouri is accused of participating in the mass executions of political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj, an allegation which he denies. He arrived at Stockholm airport on a direct flight from Iran on November 9, 2019, and was immediately arrested.

Hamid Nouri claims that from 1982 to 1993 he was imprisoned in Evin Prison and only went to Gohardasht Prison a few times on official missions.

However, Kaveh Mousavi told Radio Farda that there is considerable evidence against Hamid Nouri that will lead to his conviction.

The trial of Hamid Nouri, which will continue in Stockholm court until Ordibehesht next year, has also prompted a reaction from the Islamic Republic authorities.

Saied Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic, on the first day of Nouri’s trial called the prosecution “a plot” by the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization and claimed that the Swedish court “has relied on a series of stories, false documentation and false witnesses, all orchestrated by a small group”.
