Young Woman Killed in Abadan Following Opposition to Her Marriage

A young woman in Abadan was killed by her brother over his opposition to her marriage. The suspect has been arrested and investigations are ongoing to reveal details of the case.

According to Harana news agency, citing IRNA, a young woman in Abadan was killed by her brother.

Based on this report, Abadan police officers had previously identified a suspect in a theft case and were attempting to arrest him.

Investigations in this regard were continuing until two days ago when they learned this suspect had been spotted on one of the city’s streets. Officers moved to apprehend the suspect, disarmed him, and arrested him.

The suspect initially recounted details of his thefts, and subsequently brought up the murder, stating that he had killed his sister.

He said: “My sister had a suitor whom I did not like, and I was opposed to their marriage. When I realized I could not prevent this union, I killed my sister.”

The suspect is currently in custody and investigations are continuing to reveal details of the murder.
