Iranian Official: Taliban Imposed Restrictions on Iranian Trucks in Afghanistan

An Iranian government official announced that Afghanistan has imposed new restrictions on trade with Iran, stating that Iranian trucks can enter Afghanistan only once a month.
IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday, November 3rd, citing Javad Hedayati, director general of the Transit and International Transportation Office of the Road Maintenance Organization, that based on the new policy imposed by the Taliban, if Iranian trucks re-enter Afghan territory “sooner than 25 days” after unloading cargo in Afghanistan, they will “be subject to penalties.”
Referring to the fact that the new managers in Afghanistan “lack experience and background in this field,” he said that people with experience in this area are “advising” them.
According to Hedayati, while Iranian truck cargo is being unloaded within the border area, Afghan trucks after entering Iranian territory travel “all the way to Bandar Abbas.”
This government official, stating that these restrictions have not yet been implemented, emphasized: “Our hands are open for reciprocal action.”
Afghanistan’s creation of trade restrictions for Iran comes after Kheirollah Khademmi, deputy minister of roads of Iran, previously stated that the Republic of Azerbaijan collects “$130 tolls” by operating inspection stations for Iranian trucks, and announced efforts to establish an alternative route.
