Thousands of Iranians Make Land Trip to Turkey for Black Friday Sales

An Iranian customs official announced that “thousands” of Iranians made a few-day trip to Turkey to take advantage of special Black Friday sales in the country.

According to Iran’s customs spokesperson, during an 11-day period from November 27 to December 8, 16,759 Iranian citizens entered Turkey through land borders.

This year, December 5 (November 26) coincided with Black Friday.

According to Rouhollah Latifi, during the same period, out of the number of travelers who had traveled to Turkey, 16,629 people returned to the country.

He described the travel of this number of Iranian citizens to Turkey as “unusual” and said that the return of nearly the same number of people who had left the country indicates they had traveled to Turkey to take advantage of the sales at Turkish shopping centers.

Latifi added that the majority of returning travelers came back to the country on the sixth, seventh, and eighth days of December.

As reported by the ILNA news agency, the busiest and most popular destination in Turkey for Iranians is the shopping centers in Van, Turkey, and a significant number of Iranians have made their way from the Razi border to Van’s shopping centers.

For years, buying shoes and clothes from Turkish sales and reselling them at higher prices in Iran has become a profession, and various boutiques advertise Turkish goods on social networks.

Turkey, as Iran’s neighbor, has become one of the popular areas for tourism and enjoying this country’s social freedoms as well as real estate purchases.
