Teachers’ Protests Continue in Various Iranian Cities

In continuation of occupational gatherings, a number of teachers gathered on Sunday, October 1st, in front of Parliament in Tehran and at the Education and Training offices in Isfahan, Shiraz, Rasht, Bandar Abbas, and Ahvaz, demanding the implementation of the teacher ranking plan and payment of their outstanding wages and insurance.

These educators are calling for an increase in their salaries equivalent to 80 percent of the salaries of university faculty members. The government and Parliament have proposed a 20 to 25 percent increase in teacher salaries, but teachers continue to demand full implementation of the ranking plan and salary equalization.

With the expansion of poverty and the intensification of economic problems facing various segments of the population, including teachers, protest gatherings have continued across different parts of Iran, and teacher salaries have not changed based on the document of fundamental transformation in education.
