Over 60 NGOs Call for UN Investigation into War Crimes in Yemen

More than 60 non-governmental organizations and groups called on the United Nations on Thursday, December 1st, to ensure investigation and accountability of those accused of documenting war crimes and human rights violations in Yemen.

These groups, which include Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, called for the establishment of a new international mechanism as soon as possible to collect and protect evidence related to crimes and human rights violations.

Yemen’s legitimate government, supported by Saudi Arabia, and Houthi militias backed by the Islamic Republic of Iran have been engaged in an internal war for more than seven years.

The United Nations has described Yemen’s internal conflict as the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
