Corona in Iran; Record-Breaking Statistics and ‘Health Ministry Collapse’

The latest coronavirus statistics in Iran show new records in the number of deaths and daily cases of infection with this virus. The Secretary-General of the Iranian Nursing Home Association has also spoken of the “collapse of the Health Ministry”.

The Iranian Ministry of Health announced on Sunday, Mordad 17 (August 8) that 542 people died from coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

Also, based on statistics released by the Iranian Ministry of Health on Sunday, Mordad 17, 39,619 new patients infected with COVID-19 were identified in the past day, which is considered a record-breaking number of daily infections with this virus.

4,102 of them were hospitalized.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, the total number of coronavirus deaths has now reached 94,015 people.

According to official statistics, the total number of coronavirus patients in Iran has now reached 4,158,729 people.

Currently, 336 cities in Iran are in a red situation, 84 cities are in an orange situation, and 28 cities are also in a yellow situation.

Secretary-General of Iranian Nursing Home Association: Health Ministry Has Collapsed

Mohammad Sharifi Moghaddam, Secretary-General of the Iranian Nursing Home Association, while warning about the fifth wave of corona, said: “The Health Ministry has collapsed and our healthcare system has been left to its own devices regarding the coronavirus issue.”

This Iranian official told “Tejarat News” in explaining the coronavirus situation in Iran that the number of hospitalized patients is currently three times the hospital capacity.

The Secretary-General of the Nursing Home Association also reported a severe shortage of nurses in Iran and said that currently there are fewer than one and a half nurses per thousand population of the country.

According to Sharifi Moghaddam, the acceptable threshold is that there should be 10 nurses per thousand population.
