Taliban Group Claims Complete Control of Panjshir

While resistance forces report continuing their fight and maintaining strategic positions, the Taliban raised their flag over the Panjshir governor’s office. Simultaneously, protests have erupted in Kabul, Herat, and Mazar-i-Sharif against Pakistan and the Taliban.

The Taliban militants claim that the last province of Afghanistan is completely under their control, but the “National Resistance Front” led by Ahmad Massoud has emphasized that fighting in Darab and Panjshir against the “invading enemy” continues.

Kabir Wathiq, deputy governor of Panjshir, stated that resistance front forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban and that fighting continues. Meanwhile, videos have been shared on social networks showing night-time demonstrations in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif against Pakistan and the Taliban. Users are calling on people to stand firm using the hashtag #National_Uprising.

During night protests in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif, people chanted “Long live Afghanistan” and “Death to the Taliban.” Rahmatullah Nabil, former head of Afghan national security, has also supported Ahmad Massoud’s call for resistance, calling “standing against Pakistani domination” a national and moral duty of citizens. In recent days, the Taliban has hosted Pakistan’s military intelligence chief.

Meanwhile, the Taliban released a video of raising their flag over the Panjshir governor’s office. Zabihullah Mujahid, the group’s spokesperson, also announced that large quantities of weapons and ammunition in the province will be transferred to central Afghanistan. He asked people not to hold marches and tweeted: “We have recently emerged from a crisis. We ask all men and women and all people to refrain from holding marches in such circumstances.”

Beyond Afghan cities, a group also gathered in Washington in response to Ahmad Massoud’s call. Ali Maysam Nazari, spokesperson for the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, tweeted asking all supporters of the resistance front in various countries to be the voice of freedom and protest against Taliban terrorism and aggression.

It is unclear where Ahmad Massoud and Amrullah Saleh are located. Massoud, who called the Panjshir developments a “foreign attack,” has called on people to rise up and resist. On social networks, users have reported Taliban violence in villages, but due to current conditions, there are no verified and official reports of events in Panjshir.

Media outlets, including “India Today,” have reported that drones and helicopters that attacked the Panjshir valley belong to the Pakistani army. The death of Fahim Dashti, spokesperson for the resistance front in Panjshir, has been attributed to an attack by Pakistani drones on his vehicle. Islamabad has not responded to this.
