Switzerland and US Discuss Expanding Humanitarian Aid to Iran

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, met with his Swiss counterpart in Geneva. Following this meeting, the French news agency reported that Switzerland and the US want to expand humanitarian aid to Iran.
Joe Biden, the President of the United States, met with Guy Parmelin, his Swiss counterpart, on Tuesday, June 15 (25 Khordad). The Swiss President stated that the meeting with Biden took place in a very friendly atmosphere.
Parmelin wished success to the US President, who is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart in Geneva on Wednesday, June 26 (26 Khordad), and hoped for a “fruitful meeting.”
Biden and Putin’s meeting is expected to take place on Wednesday morning.
According to the French news agency, the US and Switzerland also discussed humanitarian aid to Iran.
The US and Iran do not have diplomatic relations. For more than four decades, Switzerland has been recognized as the protecting power of American interests in Iran.
Ignazio Cassis, Switzerland’s Foreign Minister, stated that Iran was one of the topics in bilateral talks between the US and Switzerland.
According to the Swiss Foreign Minister, discussions were held with the US on how to expand humanitarian aid to support the Iranian people.
He emphasized that both parties discussed expanding humanitarian aid, including sending food and other essential goods.
