Afghan Women’s Campaign Against Taliban’s New Dress Code Law for Female Students

A campaign has been launched by Afghan women on social media networks aimed at fighting the Taliban government’s order requiring female students to wear Islamic hijab.

According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, many women say that the Taliban should not impose their demands on them.

Meanwhile, António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, wrote on Tuesday, September 14, on Twitter that the achievements of the past 20 years for women and girls in Afghanistan must be preserved.

He added: It must be ensured that the door of hope is not closed to women, as access to essential services, including education, is important.

In recent days, gatherings and marches have been held by a number of women and girls to defend women’s rights in several Afghan cities, including Kabul. These protests have been met with severe Taliban crackdowns.
