Floods in Seven Iranian Provinces; 9 Deaths in Past 24 Hours

Heavy rainfall in Iranian cities accompanied by flooding and water inundation in seven provinces has resulted in missing citizens and loss of life and property. In the past 24 hours, 9 people have died, 6 of whom are employees of the Kerman Power Company.
Continuous spring rains have affected the provinces of Tehran, Razavi Khorasan, South Khorasan, Kerman, Semnan, Isfahan, and Yazd with flooding and water inundation. In addition to damage to homes, vehicles, and roads, over the past 24 hours, a number of citizens in the mentioned provinces have gone missing.
The CEO of the Yazd Red Crescent also stated that flooding on the Chopanan-Ardakan route swept away several passenger vehicles, and emergency rescue workers were able to save 9 occupants from the flood.
The ISNA news agency wrote: “The water carried away two Peugeot and Pride vehicles and their occupants have disappeared.”
Several cities in Kerman Province, including Golbaf, Mahan, Shahabad, and Kerman, witnessed severe flooding. During the flood, six colleagues from the Golbaf Power Company in Kerman lost their lives while providing assistance to flood-affected areas in Kerman. This group was sent on Monday to restore power to damaged villages, but there was no news from any of them.
The bodies of these employees were found in the Hermak area of Golbaf. The CEO of the Kerman Red Crescent Society stated that two rescue and air teams with the help of helicopters and rescue dogs were present at the scene of the accident.
Mojtaba Khaldi, spokesperson of Iran’s Emergency Organization, announced that in the past 24 hours, 11 people have been injured due to weather-related incidents. 2 of the wounded were injured by lightning strikes.
Khaldi added that the number of victims is 9 people; six died in Golbaf, Kerman and three in Ardakan.
Mahdi Valipur, head of Iran’s Red Crescent Search and Rescue Organization, reported providing relief to 148 citizens trapped in the flood. He announced that assistance included draining water from homes, removing vehicles, and distributing food, blankets, and tents among flood victims.
