US Reiterates Readiness for Talks with Iran

The United States has responded to Iran’s negative reply regarding talks with the country within the framework of a proposed European Union conference. The US State Department spokesperson emphasized that Washington remains interested in diplomatic negotiations over the nuclear agreement.
Ned Price, spokesman for the US State Department, once again spoke about this country’s readiness for talks with Iran over the nuclear dispute.
He described diplomatic dialogue between the two countries regarding the commitments outlined in the nuclear agreement as very important, stating that within the framework of such negotiations, “both countries’ return to the obligations contained in the text of the 2015 nuclear agreement becomes possible”.
Ned Price emphasized that what matters is conducting these negotiations, and America has no insistence on how and in what form they should be held.
The US State Department spokesperson also clarified that Washington pursues a fundamental principle in negotiations with Tehran, which is that Iran “should not succeed in equipping itself with nuclear weapons”.
The negative response by the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic to Josep Borrell’s proposal, the coordinator of the European Union’s foreign policy, regarding the formation of a conference consisting of the relevant countries in the nuclear agreement, has resulted in dissatisfaction from the US and European countries.
The United States has described Iran’s approach regarding participation in such a conference as “disappointing”. On the other hand, Germany’s Foreign Ministry has also emphasized that, in coordination with Britain and France, it will make all efforts to create conditions for holding a conference on the nuclear dispute with the Islamic Republic.
In response to Josep Borrell’s proposal, Iran once again emphasized its demand for the lifting of sanctions by the United States. This is while the United States has made the lifting of sanctions contingent upon Iran’s compliance with its JCPOA commitments.
